My husband and I purchased this tent as a replacement for a yurt or a bell style tent that we had used last year during camping over the summer. As for this new tent, the weather master, we first set up the tent without the rain fly and were beyond pleased with the amount of airflow we got from the open top of the tent. We had two queen size air mattresses and a dog crate inside and still had plenty of room. my number one favorite thing about the inside of this tent is that it’s tall enough that we can stand up inside. When it rained during we day we brought our camping chairs inside and played cards and it was plenty comfortable for a group of 5.
Although our camping trip included rain storms every night, and one night with very heavy winds. The steady winds were about 30 mph with even stronger gusts. The tent held up like a champ, although the sound of air blowing under the rain fly was a little bit loud.. We were able to zip up some of the windows to prevent rain from getting in, but could also open the windows under the rain fly to get some airflow when the rain & wind weren’t too crazy. We practiced setting up the tent one time at home and my husband was able to almost completely set up the tent by himself while I was watching the kids. we really loved the hinged door. I wasn’t sure what the purpose of this was before setting up the tent and using it, but it’s extremely convenient to go in and out of the tent, especially if you’re carrying things and the door will shut behind you. It has Velcro to automatically attach when it shuts, but you want to make sure you zip it up overnight or when it’s going to be a long amount of time to prevent bugs from getting in. I would definitely recommend this tent to anybody looking for a larger family, friendly tent That is also very durable and weather proof.
The issue with the yurt was that there was not a lot of airflow because the windows were low down and we were camping at the beach during the summer. We also had issues with the yurt tent not holding up in a bad thunderstorm due to heavy winds.
